Hey, Team Wisconsin!
Happy Friday and congratulations on surviving the worst (hopefully) of the cold. Keep reading for a few actions re: WI Supreme Court race, which many are calling the most important election of 2025…
First up, 31st Street Swing Left is holding a fundraiser for Judge Crawford this Thursday. Here’s more on that from them:
Readers may recall that in 2023 we helped elect Judge Janet Protasiewicz to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, giving progressives a 4-3 majority on the Court. With that majority, the Court required the drawing of fair legislative maps making it possible for Democrats to gain 14 seats in the state legislature.
Now, in 2025, a very impressive candidate, Judge Susan Crawford, is running to replace a retiring progressive, and we need her to maintain the majority in this non-partisan race. If she wins, fair redrawn US House maps could make it possible to elect two Democrats to the U.S. Congress later on. Losing the progressive majority would be a huge setback for Wisconsin.
Please join 31st Street Swing Left at their fundraiser for Power to the Polls and Wisconsin Native Vote, at 7PM ET on January 30, featuring Power to the Polls President and former Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin, Mandela Barnes.
31st Street Swing Left is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to electing Democrats, up and down the ballot, through persistence and precision. Here is the link to register for this free event. Here is the link to donate to Power to the Polls and here’s the link to donate to Wisconsin Native Vote, (tax deductible) - a program of Wisconsin Conservation Voices.
Also, make sure to register with the WisDems if you haven’t already!! I’ve said this before and I’ll continue to say it: WI has one of the best organized state mobilization efforts (thank you Ben Wikler). Sign up here and an organizer will reach out to you about all of the ways to get involved as we approach April 1 (Election Day).
Lastly, continue writing postcards! And don’t forget to join the WisDems Voter Protection Team this Tuesday for their 2025 kickoff event (register here)!
Thanks, all! More soon.

Things are heating up in Wisconsin! Elon Musk jumped into the race last week, giving millions of dollars to Judge Crawford‘s opponent, which makes our grassroots work that much more important. I’m collaborating with SEIU, the Women’s March, the Committee To Protect Healthcare, and others to organize a statewide reproductive rights tour, Including a giant rally in Madison on Tuesday, March 4 at 2 PM. Additional events are being planned in Milwaukee, La Crosse, Eau Claire, and Green Bay. All of these events are open to the public. More to follow!
