Hi, all!
I know it’s been a bit quiet on this list, and I’m sorry for that. I have a total of 11 state-specific email newsletters, as well as the main Chop Wood, Carry Water, so keeping them all going is quite the juggling act. I did, however, want to drop in the below from WisDems. As always, they are doing tremendous work between elections, and they need more volunteers to help.
So…
The WisDems Organizing and Candidate Services Team will be hosting a training on Recruiting and Working with Local Candidates at 6:00 pm (CT) on Wednesday, August 23rd. In this training, we will be discussing how to recruit candidates for local elections happening this spring as well as discussing support we can provide to candidates. Please sign up for the call ahead of time. We look forward to you joining us!
Our weekly trainings on Wednesdays at 6pm will continue through the fall. You can find the training schedule here. We will be taking a break next week (August 30th), but are hosting a very exciting Biden-Harris Organizing to Win Strategy Briefing on September 6th at 6pm with the Campaign Manger Julie Chavez Rodriguez. Sign up here.
Upcoming Events:
🔵 September Weekend of Action--September 23rd/24thÂ
🔵 1 Year 2 Win Weekend of Action--November 4th/5thÂ
I really hope some of you can sign up for any of the above. The Julie Chavez-Rodriguez event, especially, should be really interesting.
I’ll send more as I get it! Thanks, all!
Jess
I think many of us in Wisconsin are terribly discouraged. 75% of GOP bills get a public hearing, but they only allow 2% of Dem bills to have a hearing. We are a 50-50 state but Dems get 1/3 of the Assembly seats under the current (gerrymandered) maps. Our only hope of turning this around is threatened by Repub legislators who want to impeach our newly-elected Progressive Supreme Court Judge who might actually do something about our heavily-skewed maps. This is minority rule to the max, and it is an uphill battle to make any headway against the bad guys!
